If Bible is from the creator, how could he not know the of the earth?

the bible says in the following verses that earth is flat Isaiah 11:12

12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the FOUR CORNERS OF THE EARTH. (KJV)

Revelation 7:1

1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on FOUR CORNERS OF THE EARTH, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. (KJV)

Job 38:13

13 That it might take hold of the ENDS OF THE EARTH, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? (KJV)

Jeremiah 16:19

19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ENDS OF THE EARTH, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit. (KJV)

Daniel 4:11

11 The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the ENDS OF ALL THE EARTH: (KJV)

Matthew 4:8

8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; (KJV)

Astronomical bodies are spherical, and you cannot see the entire exterior surface from any place. The kingdoms of Egypt, China, Greece, Crete, sections of Asia Minor, India, Maya (in Mexico), Carthage (North Africa), Rome (Italy), Korea, and other settlements from these kingdoms of the world were widely distributed.

The Earth has pillars?!

"He shakes the earth from its place and makes its pillars tremble. (From the NIV Bible, Job 9:6)"

"Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. (From the NIV Bible, Job 38:4)"

some christians provide the following and claim earth is not flat "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. (From the NIV Bible, Isaiah 40:22)"

First of all, a circle is not a ball or sphere or an egg-shaped object. A circle is a flat round surface, similar to flat rectangular, or square, or triangular surfaces. So if the Bible claims that the Earth is a circle, then this is still bogus because the earth is obviously not a flat surface.

On contrary quran clearly mentions earth is egg shaped: "And we have made the earth egg shaped". The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 79, Verse 30

even gravity is mentioned in the quran: "It is He who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, all (the celestial bodies) swim along, each in its orbit with its own motion. (The Noble Quran, 21:33)" and there are many scientific miracles

If you are really a seeker of truth you will not ignore this!!!If Bible is from the creator, how could he not know the of the earth?
Thanks for all the proof that the Bible was written by man !
Yep, correct. The bible does express the ancient judeo belief that the world is flat, and over the earth is a dome which keeps the "waters of the heavens" above us.If Bible is from the creator, how could he not know the of the earth?
You forgot to mention how Genesis 1:6-8 mentions how the sky is a second ocean
*does naked aerobics dance*If Bible is from the creator, how could he not know the of the earth?
No holy scripture is written by God.

It was created by some barbarians.

Never scratch your head on these things.
Hmm. You may be reading the Bible too literally. You think?
Religious books are simply a load of fairy tale nonsense, so what's the point in quoting out of them?
I just farted.
Science can't find the ends of the earth?
First, because these kind of discussions can get emotional, let me state my personal view, you have the right to choose to believe what you want. Because you have free will, neither I nor anyone else can *make* you believe anything you do not choose to. The only thing that I or anyone else can do is show you evidence of why we believe something is true. Then it is up to you to decide whether the evidence is sufficient for you to be proof--or not. So if you choose to disagree, then I will respect that decision.

Those are excellent points you raised. They are relevant points because there are a significant number of people who say all of the Bible is "literally" true. The point of contention is thinking that if the Bible is "literally" true, then it never uses figures of speech, so we must understand all the Scriptures within it literally. If that were true then when the Bible says that if a person loves the Jehovah God's law then that person would literally transform into a tree (Psalms 1:3).

Here in the 21st century, using the latest in 21st century science and technology, meteorologists will predict the weather at "sunrise" and "sunset" even though we know the Sun does not literally "rise" or "set"--at least not relative to the Earth. However those are figures of speech that relay ideas that are commonly understood. So too does the Bible use figures of speech to convey ideas that are commonly understood. So a person who loves God's law will *spiritually* become like a tree planted by streams of water and grows strong *spiritually* and grow *spiritual* fruit (Psalms 1:2,3; Galatians 5:22,23).

Another source of confusion is translating words from other languages. The Hebrew word "chugh", often translated into English as "circle", can also be translated as "sphere". Not to mention, the Scriptures were often written from a human perspective, as in, if a person was in space "above" Earth looking "down" on it, as we have seen in countless pictures of Earth from satellites and rockets and even from the moon, what geometric shape does the Earth look like? No matter what angle you look at the Earth (or a baseball, basketball, billiard ball, soccer ball, etc.), doesn't it look like a circle? It's only by rotating it three-dimensionally that you *know* it's sphere, even though it still *looks* like a circle viewed face-on (as opposed from the side).
you are saying quran is proving science but not proving there is a god. Thanks.

but quran very specifically says it is history book, histories of the pass have been dictated says quran.

so there you are the writer of the quran says it is history book.

the sources of quran are talmuds, the greek writtings, the acrophyal books, etc. etc.

since you talk about celestial bodies, if you have read minutely even the hadits, mohammad sweared by the moon, by the stars, yes mohammad even sweared by saying BY ALLAH......

He swears by the zodiacal signs, etc.

That is why the life of mohammad is absolutely in contrast with that of the life of jesus , whom you claim to have been sent after jesus.

Yes please do write to me and we can discuss at length.
the "earth" in the Bible is just the constructive/material/building substance - namely this means that the earth is flat viz. (that) the "earth" is the constructive/material/building substance, while the "Heaven" there is the substance of (the) Good(-ness), or, what is the Live if there was no something except an empty dark and deep space and the souls of humans and animals straying in a dark void?!, that's why in the world of Eternal/Everlasting Life also has an "earth", not only a "Heaven"

Revelation 21:1 "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea(ie and there was no more occult world)."
If the Bible is really from God our Creator, then why didn't describe the Earth as being round within the Scriptures?

The reason God does not reveal all things within His Word is because he wants people to come to Him by faith. If you opened God's Word to a random page and the Lord immediately started to talk to you or if you seen visions of God on the throne when you turned to the book of Revelation, then everyone would believe (obviously).

As for Isaiah 40:22 as proof of the Earth being a sphere:
Well, I am a bible believing fundamental Christian and I am going to have to agree with you that Isaiah 40:22 is not a good example of the Earth being a sphere. I say this because I want to be absolutely honest with you. In fact, the word "chuwg" in the original Hebrew can be interpreted as sphere. However, it is just as equally valid that Isaiah could have been referring to the horizon line that goes around in a circle, too (from his point of perspective). In addition, there are no other verses to suggest that spherical nature of the Earth within Isaiah either.

Actually, in my opinion, I think the closest set of verses that loosely suggests that the Earth is round is in Luke Chapter 17 (which is a reference to the Christian Rapture).

"In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. .... I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left."
(Luke 17:31 %26amp; Luke 34-36)

Jesus is speaking these words and he refers to an event of where certain men %26amp; women will be taken away (or will disappear). One of these men will be taken while he is sleeping and another one of these men will be taken when he is in the field.

Sure, can a person work in a field at night or sleep during the day?
Yes, most definitey. However, back in the 1st Century it is extremely doubtful that they would work in the field during the night and then sleep during the day.

As for the Koran or Muslim religion:
Not to offend you, but ask yourself this question; "Is there a ton of cults (i.e. variations) on the Koran or the book of Mormon or the writings of the Jehovah's Witnesses or the Satanic Bible?"

Now, ask yourself this question; "Is there a ton of cults that attack or twist the truths of the Bible?"

Now, ask yourself this question; "Why would you follow a religion that picks and chooses what it wants from the Bible in addition to it's own book?"

Ask yourself; "Why would you follow a man who is human and flawed many many centuries after the Bible was complete?"

Ask yourself; "Does it seem like this is a religion based off of one man or from God Almighty?" "If so, what makes you think this?" "Did you do your homework?"

I mean surely it is not a coincidence that the Bible says that you are justified by faith in Jesus and not works. Especially when all your biblical cults teach a works based system of salvation (which is not biblical teaching).

I mean surely it is not a coincidence that the Bible says that Jesus is God Almighty and is second person (the Son) within the trinity or Godhead (i.e. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit). Especially when the majority of your biblcal cults teach the exact opposite.

Jesus said, narrow is the way unto Heaven, and few be there that find it. Well, it looks like all the biblical cults are teaching the same thing and is the wide path or way which runs contrary to the Bible. Hence, why they are called Biblical cults.

I say these things not to upset you, my dear friend, but to challenge you to seek the truth in all things.

Anyways, I hope my answer helps you.

With loving kindness in Christ,

~Jason.

...
no the bible does not say the earth is flat

you obviously do not understand poetic language

matthew 4:8 was not saying they were looking out over all the earth

none of what you say is true all is misinterpreted by you
Christians will claim we are taking those quotes literally, and that they should be taken metaphorically. But they forget that some of those are just too straightforward to be taken in any way other than literally. When the tree that could be seen from anywhere in the world is mentioned, how is someone supposed to take it in any way other than to mean that the writers thought the earth was flat?

We see what we want to see, especially when we are biased and somehow feel compelled to defend our beliefs, even if we know our beliefs to lack the required strength to stand up to logical argument.
So tell me this then, does God have a spirit or Holy Spirit?

bless you.

How did God appear to Moses in the bush? if not by spirit? So does God have a spirit that he sends to speak to us?

And why did the covenant of God go with Isaac and not Ishmael? For Isaac was the promised one of God. Ishmael was a man made mistake trying to make God's word come to pass. You see, the covenant of God went with Isaac and thus not to those of Ishmael. Why is this? I know but can you tell me anyway? email me this and we can speak of all this.
1) the bible says in the following verses that earth is flat

Inaccurate claim. Nowhere in any of those passages is the claim made that the Earth is flat.

2) Astronomical bodies are spherical

Inaccurate claim. Far more astronomical bodies are non-spherical than are spherical. Only the very large astronomical bodies approach being spherical in shape (to be precise, "spheroid" is the correct word). As far as I know, none of them that have been observed so far are truly (geometrically) spheroid or spherical (though gas giants may be truly spheroid), but they do have that appearance from a great distance..

3) and you cannot see the entire exterior surface from any place.

Inaccurate claim. For example: we can see the entire exterior of Venus from the Earth - from a single observatory on the Earth - over a period of time. We can see the entire exterior of the Earth from the Moon. Etc. However, the passage quoted teaches that Satan **showed** these places to Jesus - not that Jesus was able to seen them from his vantage point. I can see all of the kingdoms of the Earth from my location in a river valley. How? By means of the internet. Satan has supernatural abilities, and he used those to show Jesus all the kingdoms of the Earth.

4) The Earth has pillars?!

Indeed it does - thousands or millions constructed by man, and probably many more constructed by nature. Probably the verse in question is describing the man-made pillars, but it is also possible that it is referring to natural pillars.

5) First of all, a circle is not a ball or sphere or an egg-shaped object. A circle is a flat round surface, similar to flat rectangular, or square, or triangular surfaces.

Inaccurate claim. I recommend an introductory course in geometry. Circles are not flat surfaces - a circle has no surface. The passage in question does not claim that the Earth **is** a circle, but (rather) refers to "the circle OF the Earth". The Earth - of course - forms many circles from many different vantage points. Most likely the author in this passage is referring to the horizon, which **is** circular in shape.

6) On contrary quran clearly mentions earth is egg shaped: "And we have made the earth egg shaped".

The earth is not egg-shaped. The Earth is - over-simply - spheroid in shape. Most animal eggs are NOT spheroid in shape, including especially the eggs of land animals that are commonly seen by humans. The eggs of aquatic animals are occasionally spheroid in shape from the viewpoint of the human eye.

7) even gravity is mentioned in the quran

Nothing in the passage quoted mentions gravity or even implies that such a thing as gravity exists. Apparently, you do not understand the concept of "gravity".

8) Then you make me understand What does 4 corners mean?

It means: 4 corners. In the passages you quote, it is probably referring to the 4 cardinal directions (we still use the phrase "4 corners of the Earth" in English), but in fact the passage makes perfect sense even if one does not consider it a euphemism (though it almost certainly is a euphemism as it is used repeatedly). The Earth has many more than merely 4 corners, after all. The Bible only mentions 4 of them, but does not suggest that others do not exist (and others, of course, do exist).

9) Does sphere has corners?

No - but the Earth is not a sphere.

10) Does earth has pillars?

Absolutely - at least thousands, possibly millions.

- Jim, http://www.bible-reviews.com/
where did the bible say ''the earth is flat''?

so far only YOU said that
It is sad that you are so lacking in common understanding that you cannot recognize a figure of speech.

I suppose when you hear the weatherman say it is going to be warm at sunrise tomorrow that you think he believes the sun literally rises above the earth.

The only thing that is flat is your understanding.
