The pillars of the earth?

it looks like an interesting book but i hear tell that the story is focused around building a cathedral and would like to know if a secular humanist/atheist like me would enjoy such a book

basically im asking whether this book is ment for a religious audiance or can secularist(me!) enjoy it as well : )

oh and by the way i dont mind characters being religious or anything, given the setting of the book is in the 12 century.. i believe , i just i just dont want to read a book that has a sort of "its good to be a christian/believer" moral to it .The pillars of the earth?
It's a great book for anyone! It's more about the characters building the cathedral and their lives. Lots of evil villains and good guys who can't catch a break. It is also amazing to realize all that was accomplished without modern tools! The pillars of the earth?
It is a book about cathedral building, not about religion. Although it shows the importance that religion had at that time. But it is rather about life in the Middle Ages in all its facets. The kind of books that you mention are sold in the so called Christian bookstores sponsored by religious organisations. Follet's book isn't one of those.
