The flat Earth is established and can never move?! The Sun hurries back to where it rises?!
"He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved. (From the NIV Bible, Psalm 104:5)"
"The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises. (From the NIV Bible, Ecclesiastes 1:5)"
We all know that the Earth and the other planets rotate and move in space around the Sun. Since when the Sun hurries back to where it rises, like if there is some hole it rises from and another hole it sets through on Earth?!
The Earth has pillars?!
"He shakes the earth from its place and makes its pillars tremble. (From the NIV Bible, Job 9:6)"
"Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. (From the NIV Bible, Job 38:4)"
The Earth has Edges?!
Isaiah 11:12
12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the FOUR CORNERS OF THE EARTH. (KJV)
Revelation 7:1
1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on FOUR CORNERS OF THE EARTH, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. (KJV)
Job 38:13
13 That it might take hold of the ENDS OF THE EARTH, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? (KJV)
From the NIV Bible, Job 37:3)"
He unleashes his lightning beneath the whole heaven and sends it to the ENDS OF THE EARTH.
Isaiah 40:22 says
It is he who sits above the CIRCLE of the earth,
And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,
Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,
And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.
A Circle is still flat
The Devil took him along to an unusually high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory, and he said to him: 'All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me.' Then Jesus said to him: 'Go away, Satan!'"鈥擬atthew 4:1, 8-10.
If the earth is spherical then all the kingdoms will not be visible
Hence finally we can conclude that the bible says that the earth is flat
Why do many people believe the bible even after knowing that it is not the truthWhy does the bible say the earth is flat?
I notice you go back and forth between different versions of the bible. So I can see that you know that the translation of a single word can make a lot of difference in the meaning of the whole. The bible requires a lot of study using the original text. But it also requires the guidence of the Holy Spirit of God to bring truth and revelation. I will answer one of your many questions. Concerning the 4 corners of the earth. There is now scientific evidence that there is a form inside of the earth in the shape of a pyramid. Which as you probably know has 4 corners. God is real and He will answer questions we have if they are asked with a sincere heart.
Why is it that you ask such a question as this?
It is because your heart is hardened and the truth cannot be found for you. You choose to believe a lie, rather that seek the truth and gain understanding !
Seek Truth, rather than that which would prove yourself to being right. Desire knowedge, rather than that of a proud stature. For in such things as these comes Wisdom. Why does the bible say the earth is flat?
hahahahaha! One up for God Killer. *Dance* w00T I'm invinsible! Hey Christians, wanna come to the edge of the world with me? Hahahahahaha
Edit: I just looked it up, it does say that! so............ Shall I ready the boat?
Would you please stop throwing the contradictions of the Bible at the delusional faces of its subscribers? It makes them look bad, and they're a very sensitive lot. They kill for their god-man, you know. Watch your back, heathen. Why does the bible say the earth is flat?
Because the bible is a very silly book, written by very silly people.
because that was years and years ago when everyone thought the world was flat. but now we have technology to prove that it is not flat.
Your forehead.

Job 26;7 He spreads out the northern skies over empty space, he suspends the Earth over nothing.
The Bible was inspired by God, but written by man. Things needed to be logical to the people of that time.
Because people are sheep.
Why does lord of the rings say Suaron's Eye can see invisible people?
Wait...the earth isn't flat?
For one thing, a lot of these phrases are there for poetic language...it is how learned people wrote stories in that time period. Another reason is that human beings wrote these things down, not G-d.
I think it is really sad that you feel the need to reach so deep to try to disprove G-d exists. No body is forcing you to believe in G-d. If there is no G-d, why should the comfort that faith gives people hurt you or anyone else? I respect your right to not believe, so why don't you respect others rights to believe?
The Bible describes things as humans see them, without going too deeply into the geekspeak. It does not purport to be a science text and we are not to try to extract data from it about the physical universe. It is a poetic way of describing the human experience. The sun does appear to hurry back to where it rose. The earth does appear to be unmovable when you are standing on it. While a circle can be flat, you can also draw a circle on a sphere. The four corners probably refer to the cardinal points.
That's a lie. The Bible does not say that in the NIV. It doesn't say it's flat in any version anywhere. You're just trying to keep all the other atheists deceived.
The thing about the 4 corners and the ends of the earth are just spiritual ways of telling it plus the interpretation was not quite right possibly for our day and age. But God knew all along exactly what is was and didn't tell them the wrong thing.
The Bible says the Earth is flat because it is obviously incorrect.
Hence the reason I'm not a Christian. I don't know why people keep on making lame excuses such as, "Hey, it wasn't meant to be taken literally, you've got to look deeper!" Denial just ain't cutting it, pal. If the book is so open to interpretation, I'm not trusting it a single bit.
The bible (in the original Hebrew) says that the earth is a sphere. It used the word KHUG. When early translations of the original bible were being made people thought that the earth was flat and thought that they were correcting a mistake when they changed the word from 'sphere' to 'circle'. Centuries later science discovered that the original bible was correct - the earth actually is a sphere.
The bible was God inspired and when He gave His words for man to write down He gave the correct words because He is all knowing. However, man in his folly, has sometimes changed things, thinking the change was good when actually the change was wrong.
The bible also states that 'the earth hangs on nothing' something which science would not have agreed with at one time. Science has had to catch up with the bible on quite a number of occasions.
When Satan tried tempting Jesus by 'showing Him all the kingdoms of the world' neither Satan nor Jesus needed to be able to see all around the world to know what the discussion was about. They both knew exactly what was below them. They both dwelt with God in the beginning and Jesus was responsible for the creation of all things. Satan was very foolish in even thinking that he could tempt Jesus in that way.
I'll save your entry and try to read all your other bible quotes later.
lol you cant look at some of that stuff literally, it has a deeper meaning but you have to think about it.
Pray for wisdom and understanding... you are lacking here.
none of the writings above says the earth is flat.
1. A sphere is circular(and yes there is another verse which I have on hand which proves the Bible's representation of it as a sphere, but I doubt you'd care..) Also, saying that all circles are ultimately flat is incorrect. A sphere for example looks like a flat circle when viewed at a distance.
2. Jesus's confrontation with the nature of the fallen angel that tested him, allowed him to see them at once in an instant.(yes there is evidence of the physical nature of angels, but again I doubt you'd be interested.)
3. The idea that since the earth "can not be moved" it must be stationary, is a faulty conclusion. The Hebrew phrase for that refers to something that is established in existence, and can not be shaken out of it. The same phrase is used by King David when speaking of himself("I shall not be moved").
4. The four corners represent the four directions(North South East West). This is the perspective of the land when one is standing upon it.
5. The ends of the earth refer to the boundaries of the earth, which exist even for a sphere. But the phrase "ends of earth" in Job 38 is clearly from the perspective of standing upon it, as it relates to the evening and morning of the preceding verse.
