I read it a few years ago, and it is definitely one of my all time favorites. It's one of those lengthy books that you wish could go on forever. It's a historical fiction novel set in 12th century England about the building of the greatest cathedral in the world. But the historical side is not dry and the novel is reinforced by outstanding characters and a thrilling story line. I'm an avid reader and I would rank this book on my top ten list.Tell me all about the book pillars of the earth.?
I read this book a few years ago and remember liking it. It has a broader scope than a lot of historical fiction and the use of architecture as a plot devise was something that appealed to me.

Dave summarized it....after you finish that try Ken Follett's next about same time period and a follow up on the same story line, "World Without End". About 1000 pages but you still hate to see it end! Sign of a good one, huh?
