As an avid reader, I have to recommend Pillars. I first read it about 10 years ago, and make a point to read it once a year. It is (I think!) the perfect summer escape book. They are both excellent novels, but Pillars is number one on my list.The Kindly Ones or The Pillars of the Earth?
