Is the pillars of the earth appropriate for teens?

Why or why notIs the pillars of the earth appropriate for teens?
I firmly believe that the WHOLE of world literature is appropriate for teens - from Homer to Dan Brown.
If you are asking if the adult content and language might promote wicked imaginings in the typical teen mind-then no. It is entirely appropriate for anyone over age 13. It is a marvelous story with user-friendly historical lessons.

If you are asking if a normal teenager would be able to sit and focus enough to read a complicated story with more abstract architectural terms than whiz-bang action, then no. Most teenagers would hate it.

I would suggest Watership Down as a test, if the teenager in question could read Watership Down then they could probably handle The Pillars of Earth. Is the pillars of the earth appropriate for teens?
I read the book in high school and loved it. There are sexually explicit scenes in the book, but are they any more explicit than an R-rated movie? Nah. If the teen is particularly sheltered, I might, as a parent, read the book first before deciding if my teen can handle it. This book is fine for most teens, provided they like reading.
Ken Follett's book? It's very appropriate - it's a great read and a wonderful piece of historical fiction. Is the pillars of the earth appropriate for teens?
50/50 chance it might be
