I have an assignment where I must state the hierarchy of Middle Age Society, Church, and Aristocracy. The book that the assignment is based off of is called "The Pillars of The Earth" by Ken Follett.
Can anyone please state the ranks of the 3 different categories in order from most powerful to most humble? Ex: Pope, Cardinal, Archbishop, etc. I need to verify that my diagrams are correct. The Hierarchy of Middle Age Society, Aristocracy, and Church.?
I'm doing this off the top of my head, so don't take it as faultless.
The three estates: Clergy, Soldiers and Peasants
Clergy: Pope, Canon, Archbishop, Bishop, Priest, Archdeacon, Deacon, laity.
Military: King, aristocracy (not sure of the order of earl %26amp; duke), knights, squires
Then peasants form a large category unto themselves. Hope this brief, sketchy outline helps you see whether you're on the right lines!
