Yes, I know, it's a bit of a typical question, but I just want to get a survey of the Yahoo!ers and maybe discover some new books. :)
My personal favorites are "The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett, "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen, and "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. What is your favorite book and why?
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, it's fantastic.
amikleWhat is your favorite book and why?
blood ties by jennifer armintrout. when i read it i'm sucked into it and know nothing of my surroundings...i feel like i'm in the book.
I liked "Stains on the Bedsheets" by I.P. NightlyWhat is your favorite book and why?
My favorite book is The USS Arizona...about the USS Arizona being sunk in Pearl Harbor and what it was like for sailors inside, etc. It is a great book, I suggest you read it if you are in to history. :)
I have two. My sisters keeper and Handle with Care, both by Jodi Picoult. They both give an insight to what it's like to be a parent and a sibling to a child with a serious disability or illness. They are just wonderful books.
I loved "The Pillars of the Earth." In fact, I love everything he has written. I enjoyed Herman Wouk's "Winds of War" and "War and Remembrance" because it made WWII come to life for me. I think my all-time favorite was "A Tale of Two Cities." Like everyone else, I hated it in high school, but when I re-read it as a more mature reader, I realized how alive he made London and Paris during the French Revolution and his characters haunted me. His foreshadowing and descriptions of poverty vs. wealth were phenomenal. Dickens made history seem real and believable. Finally, Sydney Carton's ultimate sacrifice is a classic in literature. It is the only book I have read that I can remember the first and last sentences.
'Night Fall' by Nelson De Mille. Because, it is based on true events about TWA Flight 800. The story ends on 9/11 right as the first plane hits the 'Twin Towers'.
Plus, any book which proves my theory about religion being nothing but pure brainwashing.
Poison study: melissa marr
It was an amazing read, I didn't want to put it down.
it seems like you are into love stories?
try reading Sundays at Tiffany's by James patterson its sooo cute %26lt;3
Harry Potter, and I think that know the most of the book, but it's about a guy called Harry Potter who founds out that he's a wizard. And he have to fight this dude rying to kill him.
I think that I liked it because of the suspense, humour and adventure. It sucked me into the book and I never came back...
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, It's an amazing story that keeps you guessing the whole time you're reading. While I don't particularly agree with Rand's philosophy of Objectivism it is a book that when you are done will have you really thinking. It also has action, romance, mystery...it's great....Pay a lot of attention to John Galt's speech if you do read it....Who is John Galt?
Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein. It was strangely down to earth for a story about a man from another planet learning the ways of life on Earth. It took awhile to get started but before I knew it, I was enraptured. He becomes a sort of Christ-like figure and the ending was one of the most amazing, but saddest things I ever read. Brilliant book.
"The House of the Scorpion" I first read it when I was ten and seven years later I still can read it and enjoy it. I like books that can stand the test of time. Book that you can read as a child and enjoy 50 years later. You can never grow out of a good book. :)
Oh I just read "Its kind of a funny story" Lol haha it made me laugh. It was a Wtf kind of book.
