Follett wrote a follow up book to Pillars called "world without end". You would also probably like the outlander series by Diana Gabaldon which involve time travel and are set in Scotland and America during the 1700s.
You could also read some books by Susan Wiggs. They're romance, but there is a series set in the time of henry the VIII.
There's also the "josephine B" trilogy by Sandra Gulland all about Josephine Buonaparte.
Lastly, the work of Guy Gavriel Kay is fantasy, but he has a number of books set in different eras. i'm thinking of Song of Arbonne which is about troubadors and trouveres, Sailing to Sarantium and Lord of Emperors which is set in Byzantium and is about the building of the Saint Sophia Cathedral. Can any1 suggest a author who writes about medieval times eg like ken follett..?
Never heard of that one (I'm not great on books tbh) but the Brother Cadfael mysteries were set in mediaevel times I think. by ellis Peters. Can any1 suggest a author who writes about medieval times eg like ken follett..?
Philippa Gregory (writes about the time of Henri VIII).
Her books are not exactly the same as Follett's, but I enjoyed both authors :]
