All of the movies based back in "mid-evil" times. The Bishops, friars, and the like... are always up to no good. Plotting politically, undermining authority, and the like. Scheming murders, wars, and the like... all for the "good of the church."



I realize these are just movies, but that's why I'm asking. Do you feel the portrayal of the Catholic churches activities in these movies, to be accurate, inaccurate, and/or offensive? Do they have their basis in any truth, at all?



Take the first episode in the Starz series, Pillars of the Earth, for example. This is just one of thousands of examples how the Catholic church is portrayed in movies, at this time in history. I'm not Catholic, but you have to figure in the fact that, for a very long time, the first son was the heir and the rest got nothing. The 2nd %26amp; 3rd sons were forced to be a military man and a member of the clergy (can''t remember which did what). And unmarried women were often sent to the convent, whether they wanted to go or not. With such unwilling clergy and nuns, how could the Catholic church NOT have some unscrupulous people.Catholics: What about all these movies/TV series that portray the corrupt actions of the Catholic church? It's just the same as Hollywood incorrectly portraying Native Americans, or Germans (hint: not all Germans are evil, and Germany's history is not comprised entirely of the span between 1938 and 1945), or Asians, or the military, or any other group of people. It's based on stereotypes and misconceptions, and the fact that there aren't many Catholics in the movie-making industry might be a big reason for the ongoing misconceptions.Catholics: What about all these movies/TV series that portray the corrupt actions of the Catholic church? ask yourself what does satin attack most?,he attacks the truth the catholic church,this has been going on since the beggining and will go on forever,but we have been preserving the catholic church from all these satistic attackes always,for the church is my bride,and i will always protect it,practice the holy rosary,practice makes perfect,we love you all,the holy family.
