Why do many Christian fundamentalists focus on evolution?

Why not choose a new topic to try to pick holes in, since evolution is not working out so well?



- Treatment of adulterers: Bible recommends stoning, whereas in most Western countries today infidelity is AT MOST grounds for divorce, nothing more. Unfortunately, many developing areas of the world still subscribe to barbarism recommended in old books. Why are you not pushing for stoning for adulterers?



- Approach to disease and medicine: Praying for the sick to get better has been shown to not work (one study below). Doctors, hospitals, medicines, etc. have increased average human life expectancy in developed countries into the 80s. Life expectancy in Rome was 28 years. Praying for sick children to get better while denying them medical care is criminalized in most developed countries. Why are you not pushing to replace hospitals with churches and teach faith healing in medical school?



- Cosmology: All the bits in the Bible about firmaments, rain falling from a sky ocean, pillars of the Earth, the Earth being fixed in place, etc. etc. are obviously the beliefs of bronze age sheep farmers. Today we've traveled to the moon, around the Earth, and sent probes much further than that. We have yet to find 'heaven'. We know how the planets revolve around the sun. Why are you not pushing to give equal time in classrooms to the belief that the Earth is fixed in place?

Its far more simple than that, its hypocrisy and verse picking.



Christians don't follow the bible, the follow their interpretation of the bible which is basically their own opinions influenced by their surroundings and upbringing.



If they choose to follow stoning there will be huge consequences, they will be prosecuted and go to jail.



If they choose not to take medicine, their instincts will force them (good old fear) , otherwise they and we know prayer won't help and they'd die.



But when it comes to evolution, if they say it's a lie there are absolutely no serious consequences to that at all. Sure they look silly in the eyes of more informed, intelligent people but it doesn't affect their lives.



If you're looking for the golden "Oh I see now, I was so wrong", you will never read those lines, people on this website aren't going to change their mind... but well done trying.

If god didn't create man then man owes no allegiance to god. Most other things can be explained away as the work of god, but evolution negates their religion entirely.
I have just one answer for evolutionists. Just create life from non-living matter in the lab and put to rest forever this contraversy. Your claim that dirt made life, then just duplicate what dirt did. Until you do my opinion is that you are not yet as smart as dirt.

You mean like Joseph Lister's Antiseptic Laws, washing your hands after treating a patient, which eliminated many of the hospital deaths?



Evolution is where the world is. 4 of 7 who dismiss the Bible do so because of Creation/Evolution issues.



P.S. - The word "firmamant" is the atmosphere, in any good theoilogian's book, so yes, I agree that rain is falling from the atmosphere.
