http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/results.asp?WRD=the+pillars+of+the+earth%26amp;z=yPillars of the earth?
one is "Mass Market Paperback"

the other is "(Deluxe Edition) (Oprah's Book Club)" but still paperback.Pillars of the earth?
Is one a hard-cover and one a soft?

That does it sometimes.Pillars of the earth?
This is a great book.

The reason for difference in pricing could be the date it was published. The older ones are generally less expensive than the newer ones.

The only disappointing thing about this book is also the reason it is so good. This is quite a departure for Ken Follett his other books are nothing like this one. All and All it is no less than Epic, this book is simply great!
Because it turned up on Oprah's book club, even though the first time I read it (and it'd still be out for some time, obviously) was over 11 years ago, so the new jacket cover on the paperback for that edition costs more than the original jacket you can get for the paperback that existed years ago.

It's the same book.

And it's quite possibly my favorite book of all time - I'm sure she will truly enjoy it :)

(Note to the wise, though, it's got some rather violent scenes in it, and it's pretty much exposing catholicism for all its conspiracies and treachery, so if she's a devout catholic, I might go with something else ;)
