Is "the pillars of the earth" a good book to choose for an english presentation? if not what do you suggest?

my english teacher told the class that there is gonna be an english presentation in the end of the semester that will be worth 20% of our mark!!!!! and we have to tell him the name of the book that we are gonna read on monday!!!!! he told us that the book that we choose should either be one of Oprah's picks or a book that has a penguin sign on it!!!!! so i was wondering is "the pillars of the earth" a good choice or do you suggest something else?if so, which book do you recommend? oh and btw i'm in grade 11.

-thank youIs "the pillars of the earth" a good book to choose for an english presentation? if not what do you suggest?
I think it is an excellent choice. It is a very good book. I read it this summer and enjoyed it immensely.

The book traces the development of Gothic Architecture out of the preceding Romanesque Architecture and the fortunes of the Kingsbridge priory against the backdrop of actual historical events of the time. Although Kingsbridge is the name of an actual English town, the Kingsbridge in the novel is actually a fictional location representative of a typical market town of the time.

Until this novel was published, Follett had previously been known for writing in the thriller genre. The Pillars of the Earth became Follett's best-selling work.

The book was listed #33 on the BBC's Big Read, a 2003 survey with the goal of finding the "Nation's Best-loved Book." The book was also selected for Oprah's Book Club in 2007.

A sequel, titled World Without End, was released in October of 2007.

I agree with Emme that it is a good book and you would probably enjoy it, but it is VERY involved.

I haven't read all the books on Oprah's list http://www.oprah.com/article/oprahsbookc鈥?/a> but there are several really good ones. For instance, Anna Karenina would be another good choice.

The ease of doing a presentation will rest more on your interest in the story than the difficulty of the book, in my opinion. I'd suggest you check out the list and the descriptions for each book before making your choice.

I hope this helps. Is "the pillars of the earth" a good book to choose for an english presentation? if not what do you suggest?
I just bought Pillars of the Earth for my boyfriend for his birthday... he's reading it right now, and really enjoying it. My 22 yr old daughter is a 4th year english honors student at university. She recommended it, so I would say its a good choice!
I enjoyed that book immensely. I would highly recommend it. As has been stated already, there is a lot going on, many plots and character, but well worth the read.Is "the pillars of the earth" a good book to choose for an english presentation? if not what do you suggest?
I LOVE THE PILLARS OF THE EARTH!

The thing is though, a LOT happens. You'd have to be really good at summarizing stuff for your presentation. But seriously, it's a really good book.
yes it would be a great book to read for your presentation. It has a highly complex storyline that is sure to WOW your teacher.
