Why are we only trying to get creationism taught? Why don't we teach that the earth is flat and stationery?

Clearly the Bible says that God created the heavens and the earth but it also says that the earth is flat and that it doesn't move. I don't get why we creationists are only focusing on Intelligent Design when we should also be trying to get the school boards to teach that the earth is flat and not moving.

I mean it says so in the Bible and the Bible is never ever wrong:

(Job 38:12-13) "take the earth by the edges and shake the wicked out of it

(Matthew 4:1-12) "[T]he devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them"

(Samuel 2:8)"For the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, And He has set the world upon them". If you go to any seashore, you are bound to see houses built on pillars, and yet the houses don't move. How strange.

(Psalms 93:1)"The Lord reigns, he is clothed with majesty; The Lord is clothed, He has girded Himself with strength. Surely the world is established so that it cannotWhy are we only trying to get creationism taught? Why don't we teach that the earth is flat and stationery?
coco is right, you are grabbing passages that are using poetic language.

The Bible indicates that the earth is round. One verse we can look at is Isaiah 40:22, where it mentions the “circle of the earth.” From space, the earth always appears as a circle since it is round. This matches perfectly with the Bible.

A very interesting verse to consider is Job 26:7, which states that God “hangs the earth on nothing.” This might make you think of God hanging the earth like a Christmas tree ornament, but hanging it on empty space. Although this verse is written in a poetic way, it certainly seems to suggest that the earth floats in space; and indeed the earth does float in space. We now have pictures of the earth taken from space that show it floating in the cosmic void. The earth literally hangs upon nothing, just as the Bible suggests.

The Bible indicates in several places that the universe has been “stretched out” or expanded. For example, Isaiah 40:22 teaches that God stretches out the heavens like a curtain and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. This would suggest that the universe has actually increased in size since its creation. God is stretching it out, causing it to expand.

Now, this verse must have seemed very strange when it was first written. The universe certainly doesn’t look as if it is expanding. After all, if you look at the night sky tonight, it will appear about the same size as it did the previous night, and the night before that.

In fact, secular scientists once believed that the universe was eternal and unchanging. The idea of an expanding universe would have been considered nonsense to most scientists of the past. So it must have been tempting for Christians to reject what the Bible teaches about the expansion of the universe.

Most astronomers today believe that the universe is indeed expanding. In the 1920s, astronomers discovered that virtually all clusters of galaxies appear to be moving away from all other clusters; this indicates that the entire universe is expanding.

It is fascinating that the Bible recorded the idea of an expanding universe thousands of years before secular science came to accept the idea.

Some Bible critics have claimed that passages like Revelation 7:1 assumes a flat earth since the verse refers to angels standing at the "four corners" of the earth. Actually, the reference is to the cardinal directions: north, south, east, and west. Similar terminology is often used today when we speak of the sun's rising and setting, even though the earth, not the sun, is doing the moving. Bible writers used the "language of appearance," just as people always have. Without it, the intended message would be awkward at best and probably not understood clearly. When the Bible touches on scientific subjects, it is entirely accurate.
I agree with you, but religion still should not be taught until it is proved outside of a book. just like the "flat earth" theory was.Why are we only trying to get creationism taught? Why don't we teach that the earth is flat and stationery?
And out of all of these verses, where is the word flat? How do you pick up a ball? Do you touch the edges? I have more of a problem with a 40 year old telling me what happened billions and billions of years ago.

I know there are no edges, how do you discribe picking up a ball and shaking it?
why dont we teach christians that earth is clearly round? it clearly says so in science books written by authors who know what theyre talking about.

now how do you know the bible is never wrong? thats what I would love to know? Why are we only trying to get creationism taught? Why don't we teach that the earth is flat and stationery?
There are word,s we understand and word,s we don,t,but

without the spirit of God none will understand a word of the

Bible, this is where you have to have the spirit to lead you

and anyone who is not of God can understand it.
christians must be brainwashed immediately together with muslims
""Poetic effect, metaphor, idioms, sarcasm, irony, exaggeration, understatement, repetition, and other rhetorical tools are all important parts of language. If a translation language has the tools to communicate poetic and metaphorical effects, it is proper to use them. But translation wordings need to be ones which are capable of being understood by the speakers of that translation language. They can be newly coined in the language, as long as they can be understood."" -from someone's blog

And i agree. The Bible talks in metaphors translated from a language that is not english.... hence, translations and understanding solely belongs to the one who does the reading...

I think that in any kind of reading from peotry to prose to novels to research papers,... it requires a high intellect capable of understanding.
For an infallible god, his manifesto sure is packed full of mistakes, lies and just plain stupid stuff.
Well, why dont we teach our kids to kill people who work on Sunday. Thats in the bible too. Also, the bible says that its ok to sell your daughter into slavery, as long as she goes to a neighboring tribe. Why dont they teach that one too ?

Could it be that the religious folks are not entirely honest?
